The Week to Come

Every once in a while I type up a list of things to do/goals/thoughts for the week to come. Let this serve as a disclaimer. This post has no entertainment value. Read on, though, if you are vaguely interested in everyday worries of a college boy.

Things due this week:
Spanish Presentation- gotta get together with the group- ohh... those bitches...- and actually DO the project.
UTA transcript- mail UTA my signed permission to release my transcript. must be done by Monday (today).
Psychology Paper- due Thursday... oh shit.
Buy food

Things not to do this week:
Spend more than 10 bucks- damn I'm poor.
Fall asleep past 1:00am- gotta get my sleep schedule somewhat regular for finals in a month'ish.
Make a dumb joke.

Misc:
Email Lauren, it's been awhile.
Stay off the computer- get my nose in a book every now and then, for God's sake...
Call Mom, it's been awhile.
Bitch to work about my damn paycheck and why I don't have one yet.
Keep up with the core workout- by the end of the semester, I''ll look ballin for the summer.

I guess I should reward the few who read through that with some grabs from the weekend:
It was a beautiful weekend. I keep blabbering about this to anyone who will listen, but the weather puts me in such a good mood. Kathy and I hung out under the sun.
I spotted some nutty grackles performing mating calls (I'm not sure if they were really mating calls, but I like to say that's what I got a picture of).
When the sun sets on a weekend night, my phone explodes with texts and calls and I'm on that shit like a schoolgirl after the last bell.
And my photography devolved from there. My party pics do not stand up at all to anyone else's.

Full Day Shoot

The trials and tribulations of college life... Yesterday was a day when I did absolutely no schoolwork. None. I didn't pick up a single book, run any of my errands, or even go to my only class. I would be rather bummed at myself, had it not been for all the shooting I did instead. Basically I woke up at an ungodly hour (1pm), and upon realizing I had wasted half a day of beautiful Texas spring, I tore off the sleeves to a t-shirt (to combat my farmer's tan), put on my favorite running shoes and basketball shorts, grabbed my camera, and ran outside. My aim for the afternoon was street photography. Closer and more IN YO FACE than I had ever attempted. Having previously gotten a nice feel for my campus on my past architecture shoots, and my assignments for the yearbook, I had a fair sense of where to go and what to look at for my shots. Anyway, too much typing; I suck at words anyway.

Later that evening, I walked over to Texas Revue, UT's big student-run talent show. It was held at the main mall, right at the base of the tower, which made for some fun shooting. It had quite a large attendance, and I even managed to run into one of my best friends, Alicia. Though I wasn't on assignment, I pretended like I was and strode all the way up to the stage, rubbing elbows with Texan and Cactus (the school paper and yearbook, respectively) photographers right on the side of the stage, and in front of it, getting some pretty usable shots. I was still in my "workout photog " style- what with my cut off sleeves and my basketball shorts, so I must have looked pretty ballin' in front of those hundreds of people watching the show.

PEACE.

2 More Shots

You, reader, will come to learn that I suck at inventing titles for things I create. From my art, to these blog posts, expect uninspired, monotonous titles. Titles are my artistic weakness ("wat abt ur pics lawl"). Anyway, I guess I'm having some burst in photo energy which explains the sudden activity on this blog. These are... wait for it... 2 more shots from today :

I live on the 5th floor in my hall, and my window offers a pretty killer view down on Clark Field, as well as downtown Austin. I've been a big creeper for quite some time spying on the field with my zoom lens looking for a shot. This was the first one to stand out to me.

Late Night Shoot

My friend Addison got a Nikon D80 as a graduation gift. She confessed that she hasn't been using it in anything other than "Auto" mode. She wanted me to show her how to use it, so we decided to have her learn how to make light trails. I know these aren't exactly Pulitzer candidates, but it was a fun shoot so I thought I'd share.

On my way back to the room... On the right is my hall, and you can clearly see UT's epic stadium lighting up the sky!

Peace, guys, thanks for reading!

3 More Pics

It was another lazy day. I only had one class in the morning (which I'm annoyed to say I slept through; it's my favorite class this semester, child psychology). Here are some grabs from me hanging out for a bit this afternoon:

"Bella and Camels"

"Off to the Pool"

Rare portrait of me... taken by my roommate! Good job, man.

I dunno if this was really the case, but it feels like spring came late to Texas. But now that it's here... man my spirits and mind have been rejuvenated! Throwing on a favorite t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops beats the hell out of fussing with a stuffy jacket or a hoodie!

Portraits

Damn, I haven't made a new post in a long time. Anyway, I finished a slew of tests this week, so I finally got to pull my camera out again and take pics. I banged on the old Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 (the 20y.o. manual version) and ran outside to my friends' hangout spot. Spring is upon us in full force and it was a pretty orgasmic day. These are some grabs from my post-tests shoot.
