Southeast Asia Pt. 3

We also spent 4 days in Hong Kong. I absolutely fell in love with the city. It is the most gorgeous, interesting city I've ever been to, and I definitely plan on going back on my later travels. Hong Kong is an insane mix of European and Asian. Tall whites mingle effortlessly in a sea of Chinese and Polynesian, and everyone is attractive, powerful, and wealthy. Hong Kong gets Miguel's Coolest City award. We stayed with my aunt, who lives in a flat in a highrise located in the heart of Hong Kong. The view out my window was... the shit.

We also made our way over to Macau, another "Special Administrative Region" of China. Tourists like to refer to Macau as the Las Vegas of China. We visited some big hotels, and explored the city a bit.

Macau

Macau was a Portuguese colony, just as Hong Kong was a British one, so Portuguese influence is very prominent in Macau. A special treat there are these delicious cheesy pastry things (I forgot the name), and I frequently saw locals picking up dozens and dozens of these from bakeries.

Back to The Philippines...
One of the last things I did there was go to a cockfight with my dad. While he was growing up, a major part of his activities and interest (along with most other Filipino males) was attending cockfights. I've been to these things before on past Philippine trips and they're always fun to watch. I know PETA shits about animal fighting, but I never see cruelty or malice displayed at cockfights in The Philippines. However I'm sure that's just my Filipino side talking.
